Privacy policy

ForeDrive is built so that we hold as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, and your trips stay on your device.
What stays on your device
- Trips you plan, favorites, saved briefings and your settings (units, appearance, text size) are stored in your browser on your phone or computer. We cannot see them.
- If you unlock ForeDrive Plus with a code, the code is stored on that device only.
- Clearing your browser data, or removing the app from your home screen, deletes all of it.
What the app sends to other services
To build a briefing, the app in your browser asks these services directly. Each one receives only what it needs for that request, and none of them receives your name or email.

These services have their own privacy policies. Requests carry your device's internet address, as every web request does.
Your location
The app asks for your location when you tap Locate or My location, or when you open a favorite that starts from wherever you are. That position fills in the start of the trip and centers the map. It is not stored by us and not sent anywhere except as the start point of the routing and forecast requests above.
Trip following in the iPhone app (version 1.1 and later). If you follow a drive and allow location Always, iPhone wakes ForeDrive every few minutes during that one drive, using its low-power location (not continuous GPS), and again when you reach the destination. Each time, the app sends your current position to foredrive.app so your arrival time and the road ahead match where you really are. We keep only the latest position, with that drive's record (see below), and delete it within 24 hours. Following stops when you arrive, at the drive's end time, or when you tap Stop following. If you don't allow Always, the drive is followed by its planned times and no position is sent.
Share this drive. After you arrive, the app can make a picture of your drive for you to send. It is made on your phone, and the route starts at the nearest town, so your real starting point is never shown (a home address at the end is left off the same way). We don't receive the picture.
What we store on our servers
- Email sign-ups and support messages. If you give us your email on this website, we keep it, the message you wrote, the page you sent it from and the time. We use it to reply to you and to send the updates you signed up for. We do not sell it, share it or add it to anyone else's list. Ask us to delete it at any time using the support form or by emailing support@foredrive.app.
- Feedback from the app. When you tap Send feedback, we keep your note, how it's going (if you picked one), and your email only if you add it. If you leave "Include details" ticked, it also carries the app version, device type, screen size, your appearance and text settings, your time zone, whether Plus is on, and the name, date and travel mode of the trip on screen. No location coordinates are sent. We use it only to fix problems and improve the app, unless you tick "OK to share my words": then we may also quote your words on ForeDrive's website or social posts, without your name or email. The one-tap question under your first briefing sends your answer, any note you add, the app version, travel mode and language, with no email or trip details.
- Reminders and the daily commute check (Plus). When you set a departure reminder or a commute check, we store that trip's route points, departure time, travel mode, units and the app language you use (so the notification arrives in that language) together with a notification address for your device (a push token from Apple, Google or your browser) so we can send you the briefing. A reminder trip is deleted two days after its departure; a commute check stays until you turn it off in Settings, and lapses on its own 60 days after the last check we were able to deliver. Nothing else about you is attached to it.
- "Warn me if this changes" (website). When you type your email under a briefing, we store it with that drive's route points, departure time, travel mode, units, app language, the link that reopens the briefing (it holds your start and destination; a start from My location is that position) and the short tag of the link that first brought you to ForeDrive. We use it only to send at most two emails about that drive: one if its rating changes, and one a few hours before you leave (for a drive past the forecast window: one when its forecast opens, then one before you leave). The record and your email are deleted 24 hours after the departure time, or as soon as you tap Stop warnings or the unsubscribe link in the email. The emails are sent through Resend, our email provider.
- ForeDrive news (only if you tick the box). If you tick "Also tell me when ForeDrive adds something big", we keep your email, the time you ticked it, the app language and that same link tag, apart from the drive, until you unsubscribe. We send a few emails a year about big new features. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes this record.
- Buying Plus on the website. When you choose a plan, we keep the email you type and a random purchase ID made on your device (the same one RevenueCat uses), the plan, the app language and the short tag of the link that first brought you to ForeDrive. We use them to turn Plus on for you, to send a link that turns it on in another browser when you ask, and to count how many people start a checkout and buy, per link tag. If you don't complete a purchase, the record is deleted after 30 days; for a purchase, it is kept while Plus can be restored, and deleted when you ask. Stripe takes the payment (we never see your card), and RevenueCat tells us when a purchase, renewal or cancellation happens.
- Trip following (Plus). When you follow a drive, we store that trip's route points, departure and arrival times, travel mode, units and app language, with a notification address for your device (a push token from Apple, Google or your browser) and, in the iPhone app, a token for the lock screen card. With location set to Always in the iPhone app, the record also holds the latest position described above. The record is deleted when following ends: on arrival, when you tap Stop following, or two hours after the expected arrival. A position is never kept longer than 24 hours.
- Follow-along links. If you share a follow-along link for a followed drive, anyone with the link sees the nearest town on your route, the weather ahead and your estimated arrival time until you arrive, stop sharing or stop following. They never see your exact location, your address or your route. The link stops working when following ends.
- Anonymous usage counts. To learn which features help drivers, ForeDrive counts how often each one is used: opening the app, running a briefing or a round trip, viewing Best time to leave, comparing route options, setting a reminder or a daily commute check, seeing the warning-email card (or that it was hidden because the drive leaves within 2 hours or more than 30 days out), asking for a warning email (and whether you ticked the news box), opening ForeDrive from a warning email, starting a Plus checkout, asking ForeDrive a question, sharing a briefing, handing a route to a maps app, tapping a Plus feature, entering a code, opening the Fleet board and tapping the link to the iPhone app. With the counts it sends a random ID made on your device, whether you're on the website, iPhone or Android (and whether it's a test version), the app version, the app's language, whether Plus is on, and, from your first visit, the short tag of the link that brought you (such as "share" or the name of one of our posts) or the name of the website that linked to ForeDrive, never the full address. It never sends your location, routes, place names, anything you type or search, your email or your codes, and we don't keep your internet address with the counts. The website sends these counts, and so does the iPhone app from version 1.0.1; the Android app doesn't yet. Turn it off any time in Settings › Share anonymous usage counts: the ID is deleted from your device and nothing more is sent. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted. We never sell or share these counts.
- Hosting logs. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard request logs (internet address, page requested, time) for a short period to run the service and stop abuse.
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising pixels or third-party cookies. The anonymous usage counts above are our own and stay with us.
Children
ForeDrive is for drivers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will note it here with a new date, and email anyone who gave us their email if the change affects them.
